AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'The World Beneath, first published in the year 2009, is the first novel by Cate Kennedy, often cited as Australia' s queen of the short story. The novel depicts an ordinary family story, reflecting the frustrations and annoyance faced by mid-aged females in contemporary Australia. As a new female writer, Cate Kennedy starts from ordinary daily life and explores women' real demand in the post-feminist era. In this way, she attempted to bring the feminist movement from fantasy to reality. This article first introduces the theme of the novel, and then analyzes three protagonists' inner world from their perspectives.'
