This unit introduces Honours English students to recent developments in literary studies, focusing on the history of the book and readership in Australia, publishing industry history, contemporary electronic publishing of literature, literature in public culture, editorial practice including digitisation projects, archival theory and research, the development of bibliographical databases, e-research theory and method, including the possibilities of data mining and 'distant reading.'
