Gender and Sexuality in Children's Texts (ALL226/ALL326)
Semester 1 / 2010

Description

Most theorists of gender and sexuality see behaviours and desires as the result of biological, psychological and sociological forces. In this unit, students examine the role that texts for children play in reflecting, confirming and producing gendered and sexualized identities. Students will engage with a range of childrens texts and interrogate their representations of masculine, feminine and sexual identities using a variety of theoretical approaches.
