BiographyHistory

Writer, author, publisher and occupational trainer Helen Iles was born and raised in Western Australian and has had her work published in both Australia and overseas. She has won awards for her poetry and short stories and was placed third in a Mystery Novel Writers competition with her second novel. IIes has also won the Western Australia Society of Women's Writers' Bronze Quill trophy, in 2007 and in 2010, and in 2012 was awarded Best Film Script Idea in the Scarlett Stilleto competition. Her work has been published both in Australia and overseas.

In addition to her career as an author and poet, Iles writes training materials and delivers training courses. She has regularly conducted Creative Writing workshops around the State, and in 2012 launched a creative writing training DVD series Your Private Tutor. The series consists of Story Writing, Writing Challenges and Writing Your Memoirs. She produced further DVDs covering a wide range of writing topics including Write Your Novel. In 2005 she published, through Linellen Press the book Everything You Need to Know About ... Writing Poetry : Simplified.

Iles has been the President of Society of Women Writers WA, and since 2000 has operated her own publishing company Linellen Press.
