This unit analyses the development and cultural production of Indigenous performance styles in Australia. It focuses on the political and cultural issues that the texts raise, as well as the performance conventions that are embraced or challenged. The primary focus for the unit will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Drama, although influences and interactions with Indigenous performance from other parts of the world will also be discussed.
