The Craft of Writing Workshop (CREA2100)

Description

This topic allows second-year Bachelor of Creative Arts (Creative Writing) students to focus on their own projects in an intensive workshop environment. At the same time, students will develop their editing skills, practise oral presentation and have the opportunity to work collaboratively. In addition, they will develop their understanding of genre and advanced writing strategies. In the even years when this topic is taught, it is expected that students will attend the Adelaide Festival of Arts Writers' Week.

This topic aims to:

  • encourage creativity
  • provide opportunities for students to develop their own creative work
  • develop students' skills as workshoppers, editors, readers, presenters and listeners
  • foster an understanding of genre and advanced writing strategies
  • develop an understanding of current issues about literature and publishing
  • develop collaborative skills
  • develop an understanding of the creative industries through seminars, special workshops and Writers' Week (in alternate years)

Enrolment not permitted if 1 of CREA2021, ENGL2145 has been successfully completed.
