BiographyHistory

George Rrurrambu was from Elcho Island in Arnhem Land, and became an icon of Aboriginal rock music, and well-known frontman of the Warumpi Band in the 1970s. Rrurrambu was the first to sing rock'n'roll music in Aboriginal languages. Throughout his musical career, Rrurrambu was active in promoting reconciliation and cross-cultural understanding between Australians. In his later years he returned to traditional life.
