It takes an experimental approach, stresses incremental strategies and uses literary and cultural theory to illuminate the process of writing. It includes many different types of writing, including fiction, poetry, mixed genre writing, writing for performance and writing for new media. Each chapter is illustrated with extensive student and published examples.'

Description

In this course the student writes a verse or prose novelette suitable for one or more publishing platforms. Advanced-level knowledge is gained through critique of longer works by established fiction writers and poets. The course also examines experimental theory, technique and literary history applicable to poetry and prose writing. Multimodal outcomes such as collaged texts, concrete texts, etc, are considered as part of the enhancement and application of individual creative writing skills for current and future publishing contexts.
