Description

Story is an essential component of communicating Indigenous knowledge and experience to wider audiences. In this unit, students will engage critically with the forms, functions and purposes of Indigenous and non-Indigenous short stories from Australia and elsewhere. They will analyse the elements of plot, character and setting, and will apply these elements to write their own short stories. In examining examples of how professional writers develop relationships with their audience, students will develop advanced skills in constructing stories in ways that can impact on a reader's perspective.
