David Watt graduated with a BA from Monash University and later completed a Ph D at the University of New South Wales. He has been associated with the University of Newcastle as a lecturer, senior lecturer and associate professor in drama since the mid-1990s. He has published widely on political and community theatre and on occasions has also been active within the industry as a director.
