BiographyHistory

'Rachel Biddulph Henning was the eldest of five children and, on the death of her parents, she was left the head of the family at the age of nineteen. Her brother Biddulph and her sister Annie came to Australia in 1853. Biddulph tried farming at Appin and other places in New South Wales, finally settling at Exmoor Station, on the Bowen River, Queensland where Rachel and Annie accompanied him. In 1872, Rachel married Deighton Taylor and went to live at Buladelah, a little settlement on the Myall River.' (McLean, Donald and L.C. Rodd. Venturing the Unknown Ways. Melbourne: F.W.
