BiographyHistory

FremantleMedia Australia is the Australian division of the UK-based corporation FremantleMedia Ltd. It was formed following the acquisition of Grundy Television and Crackerjack Productions. Among the company's best known productions are Neighbours (q.v.), Australian Idol, Master Chef, The Apprentice, The Biggest Loser and The Farmer Wants a Wife.

FremantleMedia Ltd, which in previous incarnations has been known as All American Television, LBS Communications, Fremantle International and Pearson Television, was formed in 2001. It is itself the content and production division of RTL Group, which became Europe's largest television, radio and production company after merging with the Germany's television company UFA. RTL has also acquired various British production companies including Thames Television and Talkback Productions (with these now having merged to form Talkback Thames).
