BiographyHistory

Born in Braintree, Essex, on 21 January 1948, Sally Burton, widow of British actor Sir Richard Burton, moved from London to Perth in 2005. She became involved in the local theatre, establishing her own production company Onward Production. In 2010, she created the Richard Burton Award for New Plays: at $20,000 for first place and $10,000 for the runner up, the award is Australia's richest playwrighting prize.

(The inaugural Richard Burton Award for New Plays was won by Caleb Lewis (q.v.), with Hellie Turner (q.v.) as runner up.)
