BiographyHistory

Born in the small community of Ramarama (south of Auckland), novelist Jane Mander is best remembered as the author of such works as The Story of a New Zealand River (1920), The Passionate Puritan (1921), The Strange Attraction (1922), and Pins and Pinnacles (1928). Although her 'first ambition was to write fiction', circumstances determined that 'journalism was to be her main occupation'. Moving to London in 1923, Manders acted as a correspondent for a number of New Zealand newspapers and periodicals. (Source: Dictionary of New Zealand Biography; Wikipedia)
