BiographyHistory

Prior to commencing the Bachelor of Dramatic Arts at the VCA, Tariro Mavondo began a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics and Anthropology. During this time she was also working as an artist with international and nationally established bands at festivals such as the World Music Festival in Adelaide, Big Day out and the World Music Expo (Arts centre).

Mavondo has worked as an actor with the VCA Centre of Cultural Partnerships Horn of Africa program that toured a group devised piece to schools and community centres around Victoria in 2010. She is also a founding member and workshop facilitator of Poetics and Justice and a founding member and project manager of Still Waters African Women's Storytelling Collective. she has been the producer of Africa's Got Talent and artistic associate at Metanoia Theatre in Brunswick, as well as an ambassador for Melbourne Theatre Company and Multicultural Arts Victoria’s Connect program.

Mavondo was a state finalist at the 2009 Australian Poetry Slam and the national runner up at the 2010 Australian Poetry Slam.

Trained as an actor of the Victorian College of Arts, she has worked on television and stage, and directed works at the Arts Centre Melbourne and Mechanics Institute Brunswick.
