BiographyHistory

George Huitker, playwright, poet, composer, coach, director and actor, completed his tertiary education with a BA (ANU) and a diploma of Education (Canberra CAE) and has been teaching Drama and English at Radford College, Canberra, since the late 1980s. He has coached the school's soccer team, and has also worked as an actor and theatre director. He has written (and produced) plays, has published several volumes of poetry, and in 2001 received a grant from the ACT government to publish his memoir Not Just Footy, reflections on his experience in the field of sport and as a soccer coach. Huitker has formed several theatre companies, among them the the Radical Theatre Company in 1993 and, in 2002, the Huitker Movement Theatre (HMT) which presented as its debut performance the dramatisation of John Foulcher's The Learning Curve.
