BiographyHistory

Alfred Deakin was Prime Minister of Australia three times between 1903 and 1910.

Deakin wrote and published numerous political speeches and addresses during his lifetime. He also wrote plays during his youth which he later destroyed or suppressed. Deakin is the subject of Kylie Tennant's play Tether a Dragon.

Deakin is the son-in-law of Hugh Junor Browne and grandfather of Shirley and Lilian Deakin White (qq.v.).
