BiographyHistory

Paul Mitchell lived in several small country towns before completing secondary schooling in Geelong. He has a BA in Journalism from RMIT and an MA in Creative Arts (Creative Writing) on the poetry of Kevin Hart (q.v.). His poetry and fiction have appeared in Island, Heat, Meanjin, Overland, Southerly, and many other journals. Mitchell has read his poetry at New York's Bowery Poetry Club, Melbourne Writers' Festival, Newcastle Young Writers Festival, Big West Festival, Montsalvat Festival of Poetry and Song, and at most major Melbourne poetry venues. He has also written and performed two dramatic monologues, Sleepless in Braybrook (the Yarraville Festival) and Get the Word (La Mama Theatre, Melbourne). A spoken word CD with Bill Buttler, As if nothing is happening . . . and it is, was released in 2005 and received airplay on Melbourne's 3RRR FM.
