BiographyHistory

Brian Clouston ran Jacaranda Press from printers H. Pole and Co's premises in Brisbane. It remained largely a one-man operation until it was bought out in the early 1960 by Melbourne printing company Wilke. Wilke was then bought by F. W. Chesire. In turn Paul Hamlyn's International Publishing Company acquired Wilke, Jacaranda and Chesire at the end of the 1960s. Though it did print fiction, Jacaranda remains best known for its educational titles and atlases. (Adapted from Gregory Blaxell's chapter in Paper Empires).
