BiographyHistory

The Orion Publishing Group, founded in London in 1991, is an entrepreneurial publishing group that has acquired book-related companies, which, in many instances, have continued as entities within the Group. Examples include Weidenfeld and Nicolson, Cassell Limited, Victor Gollancz, Chapmans Publishers, Allen and Unwin and J. M. Dent. The company also owns a warehousing and distribution centre, Littlehampton Book Services. From 2003 the Orion Publishing Group was solely owned by Hachette Livre, part of the Lagardere Group.

The group has published under its own imprint, as Orion Books, since 1992. Other imprints under the Orion umbrella include Millennium, Dolphin, Orion Media, and Phoenix.
