BiographyHistory

Patricia Mullins remembers drawing constantly at school. Encouraged by her creative mother, she trained at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in the late 1960s and early 1970s and obtained a Fellowship of Illustration in 1974. At this time illustrating children's books was gaining importance and in 1972 Mullins began to receive commissions from publishers of children's books, notably Angus and Robertson. She also worked in London making puppets for BBC TV children's programmes.

Mullins's favourite media are collage, linocuts and mixed media that achieve striking results, unique works that are rich in colour and bring a sense of texture to the pages. Mullins lives in Melbourne with her husband John and son Hamish. Her favourite pastimes include toy-making, soft sculpture and restoring old rocking horses.
