BiographyHistory

Hatice Hurmuz Basarin was born in Izmir, Turkey. After migrating to Australia she received a Master's Degree in Urban Planning at the University of Melbourne and has worked in that field and as a policy analyst, strategic planner and director of Turquoise publications. A member of the Writers' Centre in Melbourne, Basarin has received a Literature Board Grant and also co-authored historical accounts of Turkish views of the Australians at Gallipoli (1985, 2003) and an account of Turkish people in Australia over a 25 year period (1993).
