BiographyHistory

Mary Small trained as a speech therapist in London in 1954. After emigrating to Australia she worked at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne for eighteen months before touring Australia.

Small has been associated with the charitable organisation Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia since 1974. She edited that organisation's journal Riding Free. Small also published numerous non-fiction works for children, including Simpson and Duffy (1989), adapted from Not Only a Hero by Tom Curran (q.v.). She has also contributed a number of works to the 'Way to Be!' series of children's books of moral instruction published in the United States of America.
