BiographyHistory

Alan Frost completed an MA at the University of Queensland (1966). Following this, he went to the University of Rochester, New York, where he completed an MA (1968) and a PhD (1969). He took up an appointment in the English Department at La Trobe University in 1970, moving full-time into the History Department in 1975, where he became a professor of history.

Frost's The First Fleet: The Real Story was a co-winner of the 2011 Alex Buzo Prize and was shortlisted for the 2011 CAL Waverley Library Award for Literature. It was re-released by Black Inc. in 2019.
