Jose taught at Stella Maris College, Chennai for almost thirty years, achieving the position of Head of Department. She gained a PhD from the University of Madras on existential humanism in the fiction of William Styron. Jose has pursued interests in Women's Studies, the History of Ideas, Literary Criticism and Post-Colonial Studies.
