BiographyHistory

Ann Moyal AM was 'a leading historian of Australian science, technology and telecommunications and a former academic'. She was patron of the Australian Science History Club, and founder of its predecessor, the Colonial Science Club. She was also the founder and first president of the Independent Scholars Association of Australia (1995-2000).

Moyal was awarded the AM in the Order of Australia 1993 for her 'contribution to the history of Australian science and technology especially the writing of its history' and she received the Centenary Medal of Australia for her 'contribution to society and the humanities in the study of Australian science'. She was elected Honorary Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities in 1997 and was a Petherick Reader at the National Library of Australia from 1993 until her death in 2019.
