Notes

  • Groups of short, untitled, highly descriptive and visual poems reminiscent of the haiku are a feature of Gray's work, appearing regularly in his selections and reprinted in successive selected works. The poems are linked by accurately observed images of the natural world. Revisions to each of these groups of poems occur over their publication history, usually consisting of the omission of some poems from the group but also including textual revisions.
