The North Queensland Register (previously known as The Northern Mining Register) began publication in 1892. One of the most popular newspapers in North Queensland, it included regular columns from writers including Bob Bloodwood, Beachcomber, 6 x 8, Along the Line, E. J. Brady, Albert Dorrington, Bill Bowyang, Cestus, Sundowner, Bartle Frere, and Freda Barrymore.
