Author's note: Many of these poems were begun, or worked on in the mornings before work, or in workday lunch breaks at the establishment which lends the collection its name, The Flash, and The Baci and Tu Dish, all of them coffee shops in Adelaide's Hindley Street. My presence certainly didn't make these places more glamorous ... though they had some glamour of their own. My gratitude to the people behind their counters over the years.
