Raymond 'constituted the publishing department' that produced Marcus Clarke's work. In this letter to the Editor, C.T. Clarke responds to Palmer's piece on the re-issue of For the Term of His Natural Life. Clarke recounts his recollections, in some detail, of the publisher's interactions with Marcus Clarke, including the circumstances of the Bentley first edition.
