'How does light look when left entirely to itself? If you look into an empty box full of light and the light is not refelcted on surfaces, you will see blackness. Only when there is an object for the light to fall upon can we see the presence of light. Light and shadow, love and loss, the extraordinary and the everyday are captured through the lens of this evocative new collection of fiction. Camera Obscura moves through Greece, Italy and France, across to Japan and into the Australian suburbs, as its characters take journeys into themselves and away from their pasts. A mother's shattered view of the world is healed through her friendship with a blind man, and a mortician, unable to engage in life, finds solace among the dead. A couple plays out the final moments of a fading love, while an old man sets out to rekindle an enduring love from long ago.'
