AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Anna Kerdijk Nicholson talks about her poem examining Captain James Cook's first voyage to the Australian continent in the HMS Endeavour. She explains that she was interested in looking at the differences between his official naval ship logs and the journal of Joseph Banks, the exploration's enthusiastic twenty-five-year-old botanist. The presentation concludes with a recitation of the poem.
