This is a review of Bottersnikes and Other Lost Things, written and compiled by Juliet O'Conor as part of a collaboration between the State Library Of Victoria, where Juliet is responsible for the library's comprehensive Children's Literature Collection and Miegunyah Press. The treasury does not focus exclusively on picture books, as noted in the introduction, but includes illustrated books in general which widens the scope to include educational material and novels that are published as both adult and children's fiction, such as Ethel Turner's Seven Little Australians. Morrow finds the text full of insightful comments that cover a wide range of subject areas and says the treasury is sure to appeal to many people through its 'informed and sensitive approach' (44) and 'wonderful array of images' (45).
