AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'When Ian Fairweather died in 1974 Australia lost an extraordinary artist and one of its greatest eccentrics. The reclusive, driven man left behind a body of paintings that today command huge prices at auction and hang on the walls of galleries around the world.

'At 60 years of age, Fairweather set off on a solo voyage across the sea on a hand-built, primitive raft. It is said that before the voyage he was a talented artist, but afterwards he became an extraordinary one. Fairweather Man is the story of Ian Fairweather's life and travels, and also a journey deep into the heart and soul of the man and his work.'
