Filmmakers Celebrated, single work column
Screen Australia has launched a list of films known as The Black List. This 'celebrates these contemporary screen storytellers and those that have gone before, providing descriptive listings of drama and documentary titles where Indigenous Australians have been credited in the key creative roles. Listings go back as far as 1970 for feature films and telemovies, to 1980 for documentaries and mini-series, and to 1988 for shorts and series.' TV Series on Redfern, single work column
'ABC TV will screen the first contemporary TV drama series written, directed and produced by indigenous Australians. Redfern Now will be set in the inner-Sydney suburb, home to "The Block" and much political action, and will be co-developed by British TV drama legend Jimmy McGovern, creator award-winning dramas such as Cracker, The Lake and The Street. ABCTV and the indigenous department of Screen Australia will develop the series, which will be written, directed and produced by indigenous Australians through the production company behind First Australians and the Message Sticks Film Festival, Blackfella Films.'
