History
Three prizes of £70, £30, and £10 respectively, were offered by ABC for a lyric designed to become a possible Australian National Anthem. The commission stated that a previous competition held in 1943 did not produce any song which the judges thought of sufficient merit to be awarded the prizes offered. (The Argus : 19 October 1944 p8)
