History

The Farmer's Poetry Prize was held every two years as part of the North Side Arts Festival in Sydney. The competition carried $420 in prize money with $250 for poets of all ages. Sections included : Poets of all ages, poets under 25 and Australian school students under the age of 18. Winning entries were published in Poetry Australia.

  • Total Prizemoney $420 Donated by Farmer & Co. Ltd., Sydney. Section A - Open to poets of all ages. Prize $250. Section B - For poets under 25 years Prize $100. Section C - For Australian school students under 18 years. (1) For a poem of any length on any theme. Prize $50. (2) For a critical article or essay on an Australian book of verse published after 1960. Prize $20
