AustLit
History
The Inky Awards are awarded annually (since 2007) for the best teen literature. There are two awards: the Gold Inky for an Australian book, and the Silver Inky for an international book.
'Best' is determined by the readers of Insideadog, who vote online. To be eligible, books must be fiction, poetry, anthologies, or graphic novels first made available to the Australian public during the past financial year. Eligible books are submitted for consideration via a nomination form.
A longlist of 10 Australian books and 10 international books is then selected by the Centre for Youth Literature, in consultation with previous Inky Award Judges and independent industry experts.
The longlist is then read by a panel of six teenage judges, who select ten books (5 Australian, 5 International) for readers to vote on.
