History

Run by The Red Room Company, The Poetry Object was a free writing project for Sydney public school students in years 3 to 10. Poems were to be based on an object they liked.

Notes

  • 'The Poetry Object is a free writing project for students in Years 3-10 attending NSW Public Schools in the Sydney Region. ... Young writers were asked to submit poems and photographs [to the Red Room Company] about objects that are special to them ... The Poetry Object is distinguished from many writing projects for school students by its parallel delivery of online teaching and learning resources and professional learning opportunities for participating teachers.'

The winning entry in the Poetry Object project was judged to be the Poet of Excellence.
