History
Offered by The Bulletin, the Bush Balladry Competition included Prizes totalling £25 -, first; £7, second; £3, third—and were offered for the best ringing bush ballads to reach “The Bulletin” . The word 'ballad' was not to be 'used in narrow or technical sense, the verse [] in whatever from and metre the competitor prefers. Each entry [] to be less than 80 lines, though longer entries would not be disqualified. In addition to the prize-money, space rates [were] paid for every entry published.'
