History

The Australian Broadcasting Commission arranged a number of musical, dramatic and literary competitions for members of the Australian naval, military and air forces. Prizes included £10/10/ for the best song with an additional £5/5/ for the writer or the lyrics, if he is a member of the Forces. There was also a sum for a piano solo. Twenty guineas was offered for a short play. £10/10/ was the prize for best short story. (Source: The Canberra Times : 14 January, 1943 p 4)
