1 Presumed Guilty Margaret Dakin , 2011 single work drama 'Discover the tragic tale of Ellen Thomson, the only woman hanged in Queensland, in this intriguing piece of theatre. Ellen Thomson was executed at Boggo Road Gaol on 13 June 1887. What was her crime? Did she really do it? For the creation of Presumed Guilty, Playwright Margaret Dakin carried out intensive research at the John Oxley Library where she found newspaper articles in The Brisbane Courier, written at the time of the execution in 1887. She also obtained a copy of the hand-written transcript of 1886 Magistrate’s Hearing in Port Douglas from the State Archives and sourced other material at the Criminal Court Library and through The Boggo Road Gaol Historical Society.'
