He is given the task of covering a seamen's strike meeting and decides to hide in a tunnel behind a trapdoor. He mistakes two electricity workers for the jewel thieves and attacks them.

— Appears in: The Queenslander , 2 July 1936; (p. 11) A self-centered professional sprinter does not want the bookies or the police to know he is betting on himself so he gives all his and his friends' money to his wife to put the bets on. Later, when he sees a bag snatcher chased by police, the sprinter considers catching the thief but decides not to risk getting hurt. Consequently, the thief escapes with all his and his friends' money.
