Exquisitely written, THE GLASS HEART explores the burden of family and the binds of love through the relationship between the narrator's grandmother and a man whose failure to satisfy her on her wedding night set the tone for the years to come. Although ostensibly about the jealousies and regrets that colour the narrator's family history, THE GLASS HEART reveals almost as much about the narrator herself. In doing so, it shows how our characters are shaped and coloured by the stories of our ancestors whether we like it or not. ' (Publication summary)
