The explorer fails to return and in due course Stuart Notley keeps his word. The party cross the great Australian desert and rescue his rather, thanks to the wonderful car, the 'Murray Mustoden.' A gold rush, desert adventures, captivity in a mysterious stronghold, and tense situations make, an extremely stirring yarn.'

He is engimatic, an able fighter, and a sensitive flautist who has a broad general knowledge (which he is not averse to imparting freely) and is moved to tears by music.'
