In the Suburbs, Mia Robinson , single work short story
'The suburbs of Darebin have been making their way into literature for many years. In 2008 came the release of The Slap, a novel by Christos Tsiolkas that largely takes place in Darebin. The novel's huge success and achievements can be seen as marking Darebin as an increasingly distinct location, separate to, but also part of Melbourne. It can also be seen to help define Darebin as a community that is rapidly establishing its identity along with a literary culture. The following piece is a creative response to The Slap.'
