AbstractHistoryArchive Description
'In a world where the law is often more corrupt than those breaking it, sometimes you have to take justice into your own hands.
'When the law refuses to help after an attack on her family's farm, Rosie turns to Carlton for help. Discovering the human mech's mysterious past leads Rosie to learn some of her family's secrets, ones that threaten her future. Complications increase when they rescue a thief, learn about a missing woman and meet a blood shaman, an enemy of their country. They need to track down the outlaws and find the missing woman before the rainy season starts and wipes away all the clues. The family secrets are another matter altogether and Rosie has no idea what to do about them.' (Publication summary)
Notes
-
Steampunk note: a steampunk Western. In isolated small towns, many hours from one another on horseback, farmers struggle in a hostile, dusty environment, and the townsfolk look askance at human mechs, despite their value as seasonal labourers and trackers. The steampunk elements include the use of mechanical and clockwork components to enhance human bodies, and the focus on the social ostracism of augmented humans.
