Steampunk note: This work features two main tropes of steampunk fiction, namely airships and clockwork machinery, as central aspects of the narrative. The inclusion of bushrangers engages the story with one of the iconic features of nineteenth century Australia, a notable instantiation of the form's association with that time period.
