BiographyHistory

'Kate is a research artist. She is passionate about live performance and social justice. She shares insights from the perspective of contemporary scholarly discussion on performance and disability.

Kate is conducting ethnographic research with Murmuration as part of her doctoral research project at Macquarie University. This project investigates the fraught relationship between Deaf and disability communities and advanced technologies in the context of live performance. Kate is also a traditional West African dancer specialising in Senegalese “sabar”, a theatre blogger and secretary for Treehouse Theatre, a dramatherapy and performance group for young refugees. She has worked in theatre production roles at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in the States, at Macquarie University and with Treehouse Theatre. Her writing has been published in Ausdance SA’s “aDm” Magazine and in Macquarie Matrix and she is the recipient of a Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship.

Kate is a visiting research artist in residence with Murmuration 2016 and also attends the Murmur Workshops as a guest artist.'
