The Host publishing house focused primarily on high-quality original Czech prose and prose in translation, poetry, literary theory and educational works on literary subjects. The principal foci of its specialist publications include history, sociology, linguistics and auteurs of cinema. In the last few years it has greatly expanded range of its fiction in translation and crime fiction and thrillers from Scandinavia. Recently Host provided a home for the prestigious Czech library / Czech Library series of high-quality editions of classic Czech works.
